Camping at House Rock

Image
House Rock is a little campground outside of Lebanon, in the Cascade foothills.  It is just a short two hour drive away through beautiful farm country and the wooded slopes of the mountain range base.  It is a beautiful forested area with lots of little streams running slow and shallow in the mid summer season. It was a much needed wonderfully relaxing get away.

Water Play

The children spent most of their time playing in the water.  It was a perfect spot for children.  The smaller of the two streams flowed right beside our camp spot and was very shallow so children could play safely building dams, throwing rocks, and looking for water creatures.   Our campsite overlooked this stream.    The main stream had a few small deep pools but lots of rocks and shallow waters for wading.      Evi loved the mud/sand   I talked Sawyer into jumping into this water hole.  It was by far the deepest in this particular section of the campground and we opted not to camp in the beautiful sites next to it mainly for Brighton's safety.   The swim hole was back to shallow in one large leap (and a favorable current). Walking upstream.  Little rapids

Around the Campground

This was the loveliest campground!  We got two sites right next to each other.  Ours was probably the worst in the campground because it was small and completely in the sun (and also showed the starry skies) but the shallow stream ran right next to it and the ripply water made a beautiful background noise, especially at night.  My parents had the shadier site next to ours where we set up camp for food and fire.     Our site in the early morning.  Sisters  Every campground needs a bandit  Sleepy baby who didn't nap the day prior and woke up at 5:30 in the morning.  She did really well however!  She fell asleep with only a minimal amount of crying, woke up just once an hour or two later (on both nights) and then slept through the night.  She napped at the campground (just not in the car) and slept in until 8:30 the second day.      Exploring the campground  The campground has two sections to it.  We stayed in ...

The past 6 weeks

This pretty much sums it up! We did manage to get away on a camping trip last week but I have many pictures to go through and the computer has been freezing up so it will have to wait until Phil can figure out what the problem is and how to fix it....right after we do the same thing with our refrigerator which also stopped working. I would dearly love to post some after pictures but I vowed not to until that particular room is completely finished.

Silver Falls

Our Sunday School group met up at Silver Falls for a breakfast fellowship.  I skipped out for a few moments to enjoy the solace (as much as one can in a popular location) with my camera. Salmon berry  Red Elderberry  After walking through an unmowed section, I had a hankering for a real Alpine Meadow hike.  The bridge right before the Falls.
