Making Memories

Image
We didn't see the sun yesterday but that didn't stop us from having a hillside cookout! We may not be rich, we may not have acreage, we may not have "toys", we may not have fancy vacations or travel... but we are blessed beyond measure with togetherness and the simple life! God is GOOD!

Let's Party!

Image
Unfortunately, some of our guests were unable to make it due to fevers and coughs. We missed having Auntie Tina, Uncle A and the cousins here as well as Beth and Sarah and their cousin. The adult's table held 6 and we squeezed 6 children at the little table complete with lots of candles and center pieces. We could have fit more with an additional adult table and the coffee table for more children. We listened to Jeremy (the young man who came to learn about organic farming last year and has become part of the family - Hello to Jeremy's family back in Switzerland.) tell about his experience living with an Amish family. The spread! A giant salad with greens from Grammy's garden and the first of our nasturtium blossoms, 5 kinds of pesto (cilantro-mint, parsley, asparagus, basil, and dried tomato-feta), bread, and cupcakes and ice cream for dessert. A pasta bar, by the way, is a great way to feed a hungry crowd! This just blessed my heart. We served the children first an...

The New Kitchen

Image
Grampy and Daddy built a play kitchen for Jubilee's birthday. Grandma Tracy updated all the kitchen toys with lots of great stuff from IKEA. The children have been playing with it non stop!! (And Mommy will be doing lots of training on sharing and getting along! LOL!) The unveiling! Everyone is checking it out. Make believe tea. YUM! What's cookin'? (This is also a before picture, look at Evi on the stool.) The stool claims yet ANOTHER victim.

four years ago, Phil and I were blessed with this delightful little girl. With the arrival of this one especially, the Lord called us to a vision of family and we have embarked on a journey of the unexpected through His leading. From Pslam 139.. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth; Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them.

Thinking Outside the Box

Image
A good furniture rearrange always inspires me to keep the clutter picked up and gives me a renewed sence of appreciation for what we have! I had been pondering a furniture arrangement that "thinks outside the box". As I may have mentioned before, we have a very odd shape to our house (mostly our doing). We replaced windows with doors, took up a wall space with a wood stove, cut a huge arch out of one of the main walls, and built a tv unit completely into a wall. This equals a large space and no walls or dividers. The house itself was already odd with two half rooms and no real dining space. So.....what to do!? Well, I got to pondering about what our family specifically needs. We don't watch much t.v. or movies so do we really need a room devoted to furniture facing a t.v.? We have a livingroom that we never use because it non functional for us. We need places to sit in the areas where we spend our time. An idea that has particularly intrigued me is a future remo...
