5 Little Kellys

Image
5 little Kellys at the breakfast table.  I am so blessed.  I love these children!!! Messy haired almost 2 year old. We can't help but kiss this sweet little face constantly throughout the day.  This picture may just sum up Little B!  A wink and a smile and darling face.  Daddy's side of the family all the way! I need this calm girl in the mix with her deep set eyes and her quick smile and her silent beauty. Great Grandpa Herman's eyes. (Secretly, I think she is a raving beauty). Is this handsome boy really this big?  People frequently comment on how much he looks like his Dad but I know this boy is his Mama's child in personality and looks when his face is serious.

My Oregon

Image
These California Poppies were truly breathtaking.  I had been driving by the field for a good week or two admiring them and wanting to photograph them but then it rained and they slipped past their prime.  Despite some windy weather and poor lighting, I decided to stop and capture this little moment in time.           I love these colorful bee boxes that I see on field edges. On our way home from a town trip, we saw a field of chartreuse green (my favorite color) and decided to investigate. As we neared, these fragrant yellowish flowers were lit up by a back light of sun through the storm clouds.

Blackberry Salad Bobble Blanket

Image
Ta Da!  I finally after just about 2 years, finished my bobble blanket! I found the pattern here:   http://www.mooglyblog.com/free-pattern-blackberry-salad-striped-baby-blanket/   After going back and forth with the affordability of wool yarn, I finally decided to try a blanket made out of "economy" wool yarn (that's fancy talk for cheap).  I was hooked (no pun intended) on wool.  Having tried several acrylic brands and only really liking one (Stylecraft Special dk), I figured that if I am going to spend so much time and effort on a project, I want it to be made from something I enjoy working with.  Truthfully, there is over a hundred dollars worth of wool in this blanket but that only works out to 5 dollars a month in wool for the duration of the project so I can live with that! I didn't work on this constantly for two years but I liked having a blanket packed up in a work bag ready to take in the car, or do a few rows in between other projects, or maybe g...

Working at Home

Summer projects are underway.  The pantry area is nearly done.  I have before and after pictures but I am waiting for one more shelf and some trim to be painted before I do the unveiling. Helping with the nails. I see both  these beautiful flowers from my kitchen window.      Soup is so much funner when it has alphabets in it!   Playing with the kitchen set  Visit with Grandpa Zane and his fiance, Tammy   Sisters   B and Evi  Jubilee reading Grammy to sleep.  LOL!   Beautiful hot pink poppies

One week

Image
It has been a week since Ezzy's birth.   It feels like it was someone else’s life I was living.  So much time has passed in one short week that I can hardly believe that all this really happened to us.  Never has time seemed so warped, almost in an eerie way.  I think its my mind's way of protecting itself.  Grief is a complicated thing. I have kept myself busy and eased back into life one little step at a time.  Finding special moments to admire my children, cheering on the many first steps of our youngest, crocheting, tending to my garden, picking up the daily housework tasks, listening to praise music, purposely looking for the little things that make me happy - listening to the birds, picking flowers, watching the sky, being thankful.  I have kept my mind busy as well and focused on the here and now and not the tragedy of what was and what could have been or the other gamut of emotions that are tied with loss.  Just trying to rest in the know...

Because

Image
Because little 3 year old boys in their church clothes are always darling. Because flowers are always breathtaking. Because beauty can be found in the shadows.  Because there is always something to build.    Because roses always smell like June.   Because strawberries always ripen and beg to be eaten.  Because curly haired little boys are always something to celebrate.
