Fencing

With the tragedy of little Amber disappearing from the field, we had to abandon all other projects in favor of working on fencing.  The first thing to be done was to clear all blackberries and brush away from the fence line so it can be restrung and hot wire put up.  Blackberry, small trees, and wild roses were growing up in the fence line and probably have been for a good 10 years.  We started by clearing with the tractor digging and dragging roots, cutting down the trees, and making piles to burn later on in the fall.  By Sunday evening, we had gotten down into the thickest part of the brambles.  Hopefully, we can finish that this weekend and maybe start restretching the fence. Flip flops are not the best shoes for bramble cutting... Cutting the fence so we could access the field with the tractor. The grass field at the edge of our property all finished from the harvest. 4 Weeks Down

We have completed our first 4 weeks of school.  We still have another week of August before we head into September but I have scheduled the first week of September as a break.  I am inclined to wait to take a week off until the weather is cool so I can spend that time in the garden.  We may end up pushing back our September break to the mid or end of September instead.   While we have settled into a routine, I am still a bit lost with how to homeschool 8-4 and still have time to do house chores, farm chores, and have time to myself.  It has been a very difficult adjustment for me. Calorie counting, ie keeping my portion sizes "reasonable", has given me a 5 pound drop in the past 4 weeks.  Of course, I would love to shed extra weight more quickly but at least the scale is dropping and "they" say that slower weight loss is healthier than rapid.  I know I need to add in plantar fasciitis friendly exercise but I struggle to find time for a cup of coff...
