Tent Trailer Maiden Voyage, Part 1

We took our tent trailer to the coast on its maiden voyage for a fast paced adventure in preparation for our big upcoming trip to Chicago.  I had preplanned much of the trip with some coastal "must sees" and hikes (thanks to Pinterest).  We drove a new route to Waldport and then worked our way up the coast to Seaside then home via the backroads through Newburg and Woodburn. Our first stop was Cape Perpetua.  Getting a glimpse of the sea. Hiking down along the trail under the canopy of trees. I saw a whale! Can you see it in the background spouting up water? First must see, Thor's Well.  This is a hole in the rock in which the sea water comes up from underneath and spills out over the sides and then recedes.  It was beautiful!  I could have watched the wave action for hours. The waves coming in..... And receding back under the rock.... The waves (especially terrific at high tide) crashing into the rocks. The rocky shoreline next to Thor's well. Getting ready...

Tent Trailer Maiden Voyage, Part 2

We had a fairly comfortable night's sleep.  I slept well which is actually a big deal for me while camping LOL.  The campground was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and we all fit in the tent trailer...barely. Our campsite Breakfast Must see number two...Neskowin petrified forest.  This wasn't hugely impressive but the beach was fun and the children got to get in the water and play in the waves.  Truthfully, we needed another day that was just a beach day.  I like to hike and beach comb but the children like to play and they had only a short time for this.   Petrified stumps They were covered with barnacles but there were a few bare spots where you could see the bark. Sawyer and I headed out to see the stumps while the others followed.  My parents drove out to spend beach time with us and Tracy and Cliff met us here as well.   Evi was so excited to find this live little starfish.
