Tent Trailer Maiden Voyage, Part 2

We had a fairly comfortable night's sleep.  I slept well which is actually a big deal for me while camping LOL.  The campground was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and we all fit in the tent trailer...barely.

Our campsite

Breakfast

Must see number two...Neskowin petrified forest.  This wasn't hugely impressive but the beach was fun and the children got to get in the water and play in the waves.  Truthfully, we needed another day that was just a beach day.  I like to hike and beach comb but the children like to play and they had only a short time for this.

Petrified stumps

They were covered with barnacles but there were a few bare spots where you could see the bark.

Sawyer and I headed out to see the stumps while the others followed.  My parents drove out to spend beach time with us and Tracy and Cliff met us here as well.

Evi was so excited to find this live little starfish.

And Brighton was thrilled with this dead crab LOL.

Sawyer searched around the trunks hoping to find a chunk of petrified wood, alas, there were only "regular" beach stones.

Getting ready to run from the waves.

Playing in the serf with Grampy.

Brighton is not normally a water boy.  He hasn't even gotten into our pool all summer but he loved playing in the ocean.

After a "quick" change into new clothes, we headed out for our next stop, a 5 mile hike a Cape Lookout.  We ate lunch at the trailhead and then went on this lovely little hike through the rain forest with stunning ocean views peaking out every so often.  There was one scary spot with a steep drop off (certain death if you fell) that had both Phil and I quite nervous.  It got really muddy toward the end so we didn't finish the last 1/2 mile or so.

South view...

Looking North...

Pit stop

We were lucky to find a campsite at the nearby campground.  The sign said full but there was one site available and we got there less than a minute before the next person asked for availability.  It was a nice open site.

Truly, my favorite person!

We got another late start on dinner so while the children were eating, I took a quick trip down to the beach by myself to photograph the sunset.
