I couldn't resist posting these of newborn Sawyer.

Our firstborn turns 5

Image
Does anyone else find these birthdays bittersweet - knowing your baby is growing up? 5 seems so old, not a toddler or a "little" child any more. Phil got out the box of baby clothes for Brighton's arrival. I found this outfit (and cried) because it was the one we took Sawyer home from the hospital in. Can you believe that at one time he was swimming in this outfit!! As requested, Daddy made a chocolate cake that fit the specifications of "bigger than a pie" Getting transformer robots. This boy loves robots! Opening a remote control, erector set present with his "new" pocket knife. Evi is helping with the scissors.

Productivity on the Urban Farm

Image
This child is seriously disturbed by messes and things that are out of place. Here, she is very concerned about the leftover rice on the floor and on her own volition got out a cloth and the broom and attempted to clean it up. Whoohoo, we have our first eggs!!! When I cleaned out the cage this weekend, there were 3 eggs in the next box! The children and I checked the next day and found two more! I had herbs sitting on the counter for 2 weeks. I finally got around to getting a few things made.

Is that the sun???

Image
We have had 3 days of sun after weeks and weeks of cloudy, rainy weather. It is still a mud bog but we enjoyed getting out, gardening, and riding bikes. Worm collecting Dirt collecting The worm collection Eating outside on the shoe shelf. I think the porch could use a good decluttering!

Meet our new family member! Our neighbor invited us over to see their puppies. Obviously, we were unable to resist. She is part Husky and part Golden Retriever. Her coloring is beautiful (the pictures don't do her justice). She is amazingly calm and very sweet. She has been great with the children so far- not timid or aggressive. We haven't decided on a name for her yet. We have had her home for several hours and she has pottied (peed and pooped) outside!

Bible Study

Image
Someday, I may have lots of time, even hours, to study my Bible without distraction. And I will look back at these pictures and cry as I remember little ones coming out of their bed with their footed pajamas, playing near my side! Notice the little hand at the top?

Impromtu Science Lesson

Image
All about hail! We have been having a lot of stormy weather - torrential downpours, wind, and hail. What is hail? We learned all about it. Science is especially fun if you can eat it!
