February on the Farm

I am always so ready for Spring by the time we finish up the last month of Winter.  I love getting out on those sunny days when the days are noticeably longer to start prepping the garden for Spring planting.

Farley inspecting the catnip crop.

I think he approves.

Crocking frogs and the return of the migrating birds are always something to look forward to!

Fergus helping spread the sunflower seeds.

Time for weeding and setting up the cattle panels for the peas.

Sawyer preparing the future potato bed.

Good work family!  It looks great.

The first of my daffodils is this little one in my dry bed.  Once it blooms, I know it is only a matter of time before daffodils will be popping up all over the place (or at least, that is my eventual plan!)

We spent a fortune having the tree block cleaned up.  This was the last of it.  I still would prefer to have more of the dead branches limbed up but we got all the major broken limbs down and dropped several trees.  We are still collecting and doing burn piles and probably will be for quite awhile.

It is almost unrecognizable now.  We will no longer be able to use the underneath as storage because it is too open so it looks messy.  The shade bed will be getting a lot more light so I am pondering how to remedy that.  You can see our house clearly from the road now so it is not quite as private.  The evening sun and the sunset are so much more visible.

Sawyer is not a fan of heights so this will not be a career for him!
