Homeschool Planning Retreat

The state of the house was in no way conducive to me being able to wrap up the school year (grades and transcripts) and do some planning for the next school year.  Phil suggested that I take a homeschool retreat and found me an air b and b about an hour drive from our place.

Unfortunately, I headed out on the record breaking temperature day (well, the second one anyay).  I left detailed instruction on how to keep my farm alive while I was gone.  I left several hours earlier then check in time to give Phil and the crew an all day start to the house project that they were going to work on while I was gone.

Lunch at Burgerville and sitting in the parking area of Champoeg Park hoping the circling park rangers wouldn't ask me for my state park pass.

I arrived in the late afternoon and despite the two air conditioners in the upstairs apartment, it was so hot that my computer wouldn't work and the refrigerator was warm.  There was really nothing I could do but unpack and swelter.

By the morning, it was at least cool enough that my computer would stay on.  I spent the next 2 days straight (12-14 hour days) working on homeschooling year end wrap up and planning for the upcoming year with short breaks to take walks and eat.

I remembered everything, even batteries for the mouse and keyboard, but printer ink.  This is about all I could print!

I love solitude, mountains, lakes and rivers, even the ocean...but if I were to chose anywhere to be, it would be farm country!  This place was perfect.  It was a little apartment above a converted barn - rustic and simple with a beautiful view of the countryside.

They had a (part) bengal cat.  He was a bit of an unnerving creature as he flopped at my feet and hissed at me while simultaneously scenting my shoes.  I thought they would be fun to have until I looked up breeders in Oregon and discovered that they are thousands of dollars and the sellers demand certain living conditions.

I drove home via the country roads between McMinnville and Salem.  Could there be a more lovely place than my Oregon!?
