Visit with Alec's Family
This post is a baby cuteness overload!
Alec and his family came from Wisconsin for the week to attend 2 different weddings. We spent the week hosting them and getting to know his girlfriend Makenzi and their daughter Giavanna.
Their flight came in on a Friday and after they settled in to their hotel, they came here for dinner.
Saturday was a busy day! The girls had craft class in the morning. In the afternoon, we watched the 4 older Mulkey children and Giavanna for the afternoon while Nate worked, Michelle attended a conference, and Alec and Makenzi went to the first wedding.
I think Phil and I spend most of the day going up and down the stairs. We wised up after that and made a blockade for the next babysitting time LOL.
18 month olds are exhausting! We forget how busy they are and we aren't set up for the baby lifestyle anymore.
Sunday, we had a big family dinner over at my parents and ate outside on the patio.
Monday was our long day with classes and a late night so we didn't get a chance to visit that day.
Tuesday, we watched the baby while Alec and Makenzi went to Silverton and then we had everyone over for dinner.
Poor thing was exhausted. This was the first (and failed) attempt at getting her to nap.
I rocked her in my arms until she fell asleep (I sure missed having a rocking chair.)
Wednesday, we treated them to a visit to the tulip fields and Alec had prearranged a surprise date night so we watched Giavanna while they had dinner out.
Thursday, Alec's sister flew in so they picked her up at the airport, went to Silver Falls, and then came here for dinner. Phil brought home pizza and I was glad because I had been cooking big dinners all week! It was nice because it had been so windy but it died down enough that we could comfortably eat out on the porch and visit.

An airsoft fight was a must!
Friday, they headed out to the coast for the rehearsal dinner and then back late in the evening to their bed and breakfast so we didn't see them that day. We had planned to spend Sunday with them before they headed back up to the airport for an early Monday morning flight but the wedding day was moved so they called up Saturday morning wanting to say their goodbyes. We happened to be having breakfast over at my brother and Tina's in celebration of my mom's birthday so it worked out great to have everyone in one spot and feed them before they left.
We enjoyed spending time with Alec after 2 years of very little contact and getting to meet his family and having a chance to encourage them. They were both ready to move out here as soon as possible so they could plug into Calvary Chapel and be surrounded by Christian influence. Unfortunately, things did not end well. There was an issue that happened over at the coast and we were pulled into the situation (via phone) and our involvement was seen as taking sides. We haven't heard from Alec since. I am very sad about that and also very concerned. It was a heartbreaking way to end the week.
