Strangely Sunny April Days
Beautiful sunny April days!

An expensive bouquet of tulips that I hadn't gotten around to tossing, but the vase! The decorated vase!
And this one.
Even my indoor plants are blooming.
I have so enjoyed these marsh marigolds in my water garden.
I cooked lots of food and fed lots of people last week.
Garage sale season is here! I bought a cozy quilt and I found these vintage sheets in Queen size. Ordinarily, I don't like to buy used sheets but I couldn't resist these because they are the exact same fabric of the sheets that I had as a little girl.

I dug out some baby toys from the dry room for Giavanna and Glorielle begged to get out the kitchen toys.
We bought a little bistro style table for the entry way. I can use it as a standing desk.
So, date night...we decided last minute to grab some take out. I got a burger, Phil got Vietnamese and we both got a bubble tea. That was a mistake! We were already full and there must be something about the tapioca pearls that expand or something but we were so sick by the time we got home. We just laid there LOL wondering if we were going to throw up.
Tomatoes are in and covered...then the wind tore and whipped the row cover. Luckily, it hasn't been cold enough to freeze.
Predator off the starboard bow...
Seeds and seedlings and raised beds filled!
It was so windy!! We had a beautiful week of blue blue sky but fierce wind. I think we are on week 2 of clear days, near record high temperatures, and no rain. It is a little concerning as we are already on fire warning watch because of dry conditions and with the ice storm damage, we have dry branches downed all over the valley.
I have had to water all the garden beds. I have been watering the vegetable garden daily and we have set up/fixed/replaced most of the watering systems trying get the ground saturated. Usually April has lots of raining wet days. April showers bring May flowers. Hopefully we will still enjoy May flowers this year! The garden really got dried out.
In order to entice the children in the quest to get as many roots out of rototilled section, I created a game cards with things like advance, help the neighbor to your right, jump up and down while picking up weeds, go backwards, etc..

On your mark, get set, GO!
So, this took forever LOL. I was thinking perhaps an hour or two but we spent two mornings picking up weeds, raking, picking up more, raking, picking up more...and it is still FULL of weeds. I know it will take a few years to get rid of all the weeds but I think we have enough raked up to give the seedlings a good growing start between the weeds.
That is one big pile of roots!
Ready for planting.
