My Birthday

For my birthday, my gift was a weekend away...just me and my art supplies.  I wanted something close to home and not too expensive (although this was overpriced) and we found an airstream for rent near where Phil and I first lived as newlyweds (about 40 minutes drive away).  I had no idea what I would feel like doing so I packed my sketch supplies, crochet, and oil pastels, plus my computer with DVD's to watch and books to read.

There was very little internet, only enough to get texts to go through and phone calls if I stood in a certain place on the lawn.

Packing up

School supplies for Phil to take to class on Monday (I went Friday night, stayed all day Saturday and Sunday, and came home Monday)

Here I am, 46!

It was a beautiful old homestead with a main house and a guest house, a greenhouse, and the airstream to rent out.  The owner was a single lady and this was her business and she was booked up pretty much all year.

Here is where I stayed, it was sure cozy LOL!

This gorgeous barn was my view

This pond was an overflow and the house in the background overlooked it.  Just beautiful!!  There was a pump house with a lower level where a concrete trough funneled water into the pond.  The trough was used to store cream and milk before it was turned into cheese and butter back in the days before refrigeration.

It rained one day and was very cold and frosty the next.

This dog spent most of her time hanging on near my trailer, on the little porch.

These two horses were huge draft horses.  One's name was Phillip.

I hiked up to the top of the property.  I wanted to do the big loop but it was very cold, very wet from the rain, and I only had my muck boots because my walking shoes would have been soaked through.

I did art!  The first night, I just studied art.  Saturday, I made two "ink blot" pieces and crocheted.  Sunday, I made an oil pastel painting and finished my hat.

It was so nice to get away!!!  So nice to be in quiet, nice to focus on art, nice to not have internet access, nice to leave Covid and the elections behind.
