Wrapping up May
Annual Silverton Pet Parade. The children insisted that we go (though not so secretly, I didn't want to!) We met the Mulkeys and our old neighbors the Davis'. Being in Silverton always makes me a bit homesick, especially seeing neighbors and getting updates on the neighborhood and our old house.
Michelle sent me this.....
So, I sent her this...
I love that we have been such great friends over the last 40 years and we "talk" (via skype) almost on a daily basis.
Vienna, wrapped in a coat, in the desk drawer, while Sawyer does his schoolwork.
I am slowly biting away at High School planning. I have been just jotting down notes, figuring out credit hours, pondering how to fit everything in, what curriculum to use, what extracurricular activities to do. It is going to take me quite awhile to get the year planned out. I don't want to leave this to the last minute (school starts end of July for us) because there is just so much to sift through and organize.
Our Mama duck hatched one lone duckling (and one other that died).
Dinners on the porch are my favorite!
A bit blurry, but 8 dollars well spent!
Kicking back at the end of the gardening day.
Storm Watching
On Friday, I just didn't have it in me to do school!
The children helped spread hog's fuel.
Before....a big dirt pile needing to be moved.
During...filling in low spots in the field with the dirt.
Mostly cleaned up and ready for rototilling and more garden space.
Meanwhile, while we were out working, the door was left open and the STUPID dog Claudia came in, pooped in the boys room, peed in the girl's room, spread garbage all over the downstairs bathroom and the upstairs kitchen. NOT HAPPY!! The kids cleaned up most of it. There are still big wet piles with baking soda covering them in the bedrooms.
Rototilling on Saturday, just as the rain hit.
Sunday planting!
I got zucchini, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, tomatoes, 2 sections of corn, nasturtium and sunflowers planted. I just need to plant one more corn section and pole beans tomorrow.
I harvested broccoli this weekend and the peas should be ready soon. YUM!
