April Showers....
One cannot help but think of the phrase, "April showers bring May flowers" during the monsoon that is typically April. The rains came and the fields are flooded and Beaver Creek (which lines our neighbor's property) is spilling over its banks and everything turned green and the leaves burst out on the bare twigs and the seeds I planted are up and growing... I have been thankful for the rain not only for what it brings outside but for the contentment to be inside and do school instead of longing to be outside in the sunshine!
I took a much needed quiet, solitary walk the other evening.
When you sprinkle an insane amount of garlic powder on your eggs and then mom has to forbid garlic powder for breakfast.
The older 2 went on the annual Jr. High retreat to the beach. Lots of rain, friends, games, and hopefully learning about the Lord!
This a bit hard to see but we are supposed to be doing math and where are the "little ones"? Outside, in the rain, under the pink and polkadot umbrella.
I started this blanket before Glorielle was born and worked on it and put it away. I NEEDED something methodical to do during seat work time and teaching, even it was just a stitch or two, so I dug out this blanket and have been slowing working the rows whenever I have a minute or two to do so.
Some days are just really hard....Tuesday for instance: Evi came in from doing animal chores in hysterics because Mr. Carrots was still, in the corner of his cage, barely moving. It was clear that his time was up. She held him for a couple of hours before he passed. There was so much crying and heartache. It was horrible. In the meantime, the dog peed on the floor. The floor hadn't been vacuumed for 3 days because underpants were stuck in the hose. The freezer was left open so it was filled with berry juice and watery drips and then stopped working all together so all the dairy and meat had to be moved to the extra fridge downstairs. New York passed a mandatory vaccination bill that gave the ultimatum of get vaccinated or pay a 1,000 dollar fine...which naturally horrified me and I was in utter disbelief that a free country could "require" the injections of toxins and chemicals and aborted fetal cells that are NOT SAFE or ETHICAL into the bodies of its most vulnerable and precious citizens (babies and children). I was literally feeling sick to my stomach. With everything going on, I didn't even know which way was up! Thank goodness Wednesday brought some "normal" schedule and routine back to our lives.
Thank your Awana leaders night. I took the 3 younger ones to Wilco and they picked out flowers in the pouring down rain and then wrote cards. The leaders ought to be very grateful to me...they wanted to get them baby ducks instead LOL.
In all the chaos, I dusted off the spinning wheel and started making yarn. I haven't done this in a very long time, so long in fact, that I forgot how and had to look up on youtube how to set up the bobbins and lead LOL! This has been very therapeutic this week.
