Just Winter
Our days are so busy just doing the hum drum of work for Phil, school for us, and waiting for Spring and warmer weather. There is always a bit of the Winter blahs usually followed by major Spring Fever!
We went in for orthodontist consultations and Sawyer walked out with braces.
During Phil's supervision, I have been working on finishing up multiple felt paintings. I like the creating much more than I like the tedious finish work of machine stitching. I have a lot of pieces that need to be stitched so I am making myself finish those before I start on something new.
And of course sending Phil pictures so he doesn't get too lonely!
Monday morning, we woke up to a dusting of snow! It was so beautiful, I could hardly concentrate on my Bible study.
The children went out first thing to enjoy a bit of snow play before we started school.
The snow was gone by noon except for these snow people on the hood of the van. It became a contest to see which group of snow people would last the 20 minute drive to piano lessons. They lost heads and carrot noses but I declared a tie as they were mostly still there upon our arrival.
February 5th, Phil's birthday, and 2 inches of snow. Schools were canceled but the district remained opened so Phil still had to go in to work. I knew I would get no concentration during school so I declared it a snow day and the three younger children were outside almost all day!
The older 2 played for a bit and then stayed inside working on their own projects (baking and cleaning for one; dreaming big of catching a coyote with a noose trap for the other).
Happy Birthday to Phil! He literally didn't want anything for his birthday, it was most vexing! No special dessert, no special dinner, no special b-fest, no treat of any kind...I did order him some fun t-shirts for the math and science geek in him.
Chilly golden morning!
Despite the cold temperatures the snow in the valley was gone by evening but the clouds gave way to reveal the foothills still covered in white. It was breathtaking! It is not often that you get such a distinct snow line.
As the sun was going down, the clouds cleared out even more and you could see the ridge beyond the foothills.
Then it was just cold cold cold heavy in silvery frost.
Supposedly, another storm front will be moving in over the weekend and the early part of next week with snow predicted in the forecast. Here's hoping!!
