Glorielle's 7th Birthday

Glorielle turned 7, July 26th.

Since she is my baby, every passing year takes me further away from the baby stage of life.  It hardly seems possible that we are this far removed from that seemingly long stage in life where I was pregnant, nursing, juggling babies, toddlers, and little ones, where our life revolved around diapers, meals, naps, and playtime.  This current stage of life with elementary aged children, pre teens, and just entering the teens is so different with our focus being on character training and education instead of playdough and naps.  In some ways easier, in some ways harder.  In just 3 short years, all of my children will be in the double digits and my oldest child will be eligible for a driver's license.  I suspect our focus will continue to be character refinement, education, and preparation to launch into the world.

Sweet last little baby

They were all so little!

So, this big girl is my hat girl.  She loves hats and wears them all the time.  For her birthday, we went out to breakfast and then hat and scarf shopping.  She is super excited about learning and can't wait to do Barton like the other kids.  She wants to learn to read and loves drawing and coloring.  She likes being in the middle of the crew and enjoying all the benefits of having older siblings - getting to do big kid stuff that her brothers and sisters didn't get to do at her age and tag along with the others and their friends.  I have always maintained that being the "baby" would be a great position in the family because you get to do so much, you get to be part of the big crowd, you are always the "cute" one, and you always have someone to play with.

Incidentally, I didn't get any actual birthday photos of blowing out the candles because I was snapping away taking pictures and I had forgotten to put the card in the camera.
