Working Weekend
I discovered a delightful little gravel road that cuts through to our street. I love taking a little extra time to explore, with my camera on hand, on our way to or from.
The darker green field beyond the tree bank (on the left) is our view to the West.

So much room to play

Phil and I worked all day Saturday and managed to move 20 yards of hog's fuel to the garden. I had previously prepped by weeding and spreading compost around all the trees, shrubs, and plants. I did more weeding and raked the shredded bark while Phil hauled me load after load in the tractor. It looks wonderful! I can't wait for the plants to fill in! It is so nice to see flowers and dark greens, yellow greens, blue greens...against the bright grassy view. Being outside, working hard, hearing the birds, creating beauty, watching the clouds, soaking in the view...is a component to my faith, I appreciate His creation so very much and I feel closest to Him when I am outside, experiencing what He has made..whether exploring and hiking or working on our property.
Before...
After...I ran out of dirt when I made this garden bed so I still need to build up the edge and plant a few more things.
View from the livingroom window.
Working out front. What a wonderful place to be. The spring green, the puffy clouds, a late afternoon thunderstorm with lightening to watch and thunder claps to hear, the warmth of the sun and sudden rush of cool wind as the storm blew through, working hard, and the gratification of seeing the garden bed transform. Such an experience for all my senses. (And also my muscles as I woke up very sore the next day LOL).
We got probably about 3/4 of the bed mulched in before we ran out of hog's fuel. We will have to save up for another load.
Coming in for the evening and admiring the evening lighting.
After church, I showed Phil the little gravel road and the lighting and clouds were so perfect! I took these pictures with my cell phone.
The children walking in from the driveway.
Sunday, I really wanted to go out and continue adding compost along the driveway where I planted trees and shrubs but the house was such a mess from being outside last week and spending all day Saturday outside that I opted for cleaning and laundry. Not nearly as much fun, but the house is at least a little more ready to start the busy week. Piano lessons, tutoring, a field trip, and school, and this is a slow week...I am ready for Summer Vacation!
