Sawyer's 13th birthday

Oh my...how did we get from this...

...to this....

...to this??

We now have a teenager in the house!  Time is slipping away and sometimes I want to hold it back and other times I want to push it forward!  Parenting this strong willed, independent thinker hasn't always been easy.  In many ways, he is just like me (stubborn, witty, a short fuse, the way I learn...).  He even looks the most like me.  He is in that time of life where he is figuring out who he is, what his true interests are, wrestling with faith and understanding, and figuring out to learn and operate within the way the God made him.  Oy, it is nerve wracking to watch.  I will admit that I am a worrier.  How do children grow, and become their own people, and leave "the nest"?  What does this process look like?  What is my role?  How do I let go?  How do I keep my focus on grace and love when my natural tendency is to get frustrated?

Cinnamon rolls for breakfast (followed by Zebra popcorn which has carmel and chocolate).  I would probably not buy cinnamon rolls again (I found someone who bakes out of her home).  They are too sugary for my children and certain children have behavior changes with sugar.

Sawyer has shown an interest in clay and sculpture so we got clay, glaze, and tools.

Glorielle gave him paper dolls.  LOL!

For school, we cozied up with blankets and pillows and did read alouds.

We went out to a hamburger place for dinner and by the time we came home, Sawyer was sick (threw up).  We thought it may have been too much sugar for the day as well as overeating at dinner.  Turns out it was the stomach flu.  Jubilee threw up sometime in the night right after Thanksgiving.  She was sick all day Friday and Glorielle slept all afternoon and had a headache.  Sunday, Brighton was feeling ill for a couple of hours.  Sawyer is on day two in bed.
