Catch Up

After a busy weekend away, I had hoped for a low key start to the week.  No such luck.  It seemed like we had one issues after another that made it impossible for me to complete a full school day and it was quite stressful.  First, we had numerous issues with contractors and finish work that I had to deal with....denied inspections, contractors not able to get started, last minute clean up, etc..  Then, it poured down rain and we had lots of drips that came in through the West windows and some of the cupboards.  Poor Phil stayed up for 43 hours straight trying to get things ready for drywall.  We started piano lessons but had to postpone art lessons because all the landscaping plants that I ordered came in which required helping unload (at my brother and Tina's) and then hauling plants over here.  Brighton's tooth fell out again (it was just fixed last week).  And we added an Autumn party into the mix at Mrs. Richmans.

Things that were bright spots throughout the week.  I had yarn and new tights come in the mail.  I had the Flock and Fiber Festival to look forward to.  The Autumn party was a lot of fun.  It was fun to get so many new plants and I am eagerly waiting to finish filling in the boarder with dirt so I can start planting.  The drywall did get finished by the end of the week.  Toni messaged me and I was very encouraged by her thoughtful words and prayers.  She is in the midst of a huge trial and yet she took the time to pray for me and encourage me and that meant so much!  I learned about falconry.  And, the clouds and sunrises were amazing!

Fun tights and new yarn

About falconry...I promised not to go into deal on social media but I think I can be vague and say that there are vineyards that hire falconers to bring their birds of prey to patrol before harvest time.  The birds presence discourages other birds from eating the grapes.  I learned that falconers in general like to keep a low profile.  I found this all very fascinating and enjoyed meeting and talking with someone who trains and uses falcons.

Another bee sting.  I think Sawyer is up over 15 for the summer.

Our piano teacher Tracie, is so wonderful!  She is a kind and patient teacher, she includes a lot of history in her lessons, and brings everything back to the Lord.  She does so many fun things outside the scope of "teaching piano" to the children.  She hosts recitals and programs and cooks for everyone!  She also occasionally plans parties, like a celebration of the first day of Autumn.  The children made leaf prints and there was a delicious spread of Fall inspired goodies.  I am very thankful that she pours into the lives of my children.

I hardly took any pictures at the flock and fiber festival because my camera is broken but I did snap a few pictures at this booth (they remembered me from last year!) and I bought the yarn (3rd from the right) and have already started making a poncho with it.  I really enjoy the FFF.  It is almost a holiday for me!  I go with a mission and a purpose.  I go by myself (at least part of the time) so I can ponder and plan and go at my own pacing.  I go with a mission to find supplies that will last me throughout the year.  I usually find a few treats for myself.  It is a color and texture paradise!  For my business, I bought a lot of wool and mohair locks, some silk for accents, some sparkles (firestar fiber), nepps (wool bumpies), and a few bulky skeins of yarn.  I bought myself some roving to spin, some pink yarn for a hat, and that yarn below that I mentioned to make a poncho.

On the way home from the FFF, I stopped by a nursery and bought some trees and shrubs (many of which were 50% off) and this fun bumpy pumpkin.  Brighton asked me when I was going to buy a good pumpkin.  I think this is as good as it gets!
