Pet Parade and Sunny Evenings
So glad to have some warm sunny days! It was so drippy wet all winter long with record rainfall and dark gray days. On the farm, the sun is up several hours earlier than on Silverloop and the morning sun streams through the windows. I am not a fan of window blinds or closed curtains but I can tell I am going to need to combat the summer heat with some shades. Even the morning sun is intense.
It has become an annual tradition to watch the pet parade with friends. It actually felt a little weird this year. Silverton is not our home anymore, we were visitors. We were only a mile away from our Silverloop home, and we often would just walk to the pet parade (in nice weather)...and we never will again. Despite being here for 3 weeks, I am still feeling quite displaced. The farm is home...but it really hasn't become "home" yet. I still think about our Silverloop house daily. I miss it. I think it will change once we get officially moved into our new house. Everything we own is packed in boxes, the house is cluttered, there are no cozy and homey effects. We have no real routine, no sense of order, no familiarity. These things are important to me, they make me feel grounded.
I think the children are enjoying our new life. I think what they miss most are neighbor children to play with.
I kept waiting for this hamster ball to fly off the track.
How this little girl managed to hold onto this cat, I'll never know.
3-legged dog
This man and his goat was the highlight of the pet parade for me.
We had another burn pile and somewhere the children found a bunch of (needless) syringes. They fought the fire (in their jammies) with their syringes yelling "Save the city." and "Nero will pay for his crimes."
Badminton tournament at the end of the day, after the hard work was done. Complete with 80's music and ice cream.
Brighton is wearing my boots. Glorielle is wearing one of Sawyer's boots and one Ugg style boot. They moved on from firefighting to watering the grass and each other with their syringes.
