A Day in the life...
Yesterday....
out of bed a little after 7:00.
Children up and math and Barton tutoring first thing,
Phil to work,
Chores and breakfast,
Pack up meals and things needed to make and serve them (lunch and dinner),
Drive an hour up to Portland,
Read for 15-20 minutes in the car to the children before the appointment (Bible and history),
Barton in the car during the tutoring appointment,
hour drive back and to the farm,
unload and make a late lunch,
Phil arrives and loads up trailer and children and they head off to pick up a used mower (we put my Dad on the project and he found a great one),
I paint for 4 1/2 hours and make dinner,
Phil and the children test out the new mower,
dinner at 7:30,
my parents stop by to check out the new mower,
pack up and children in the car, home a little after 9:00,
laundry and dishwasher and animal chores,
children in bed,
Phil home around 10:30.
Today...much of the same, except no Portland, and Awanas tonight so dinner has to be done by 6:00.
This will be the new normal until we are in the house, and even then, late nights will continue. Our closing date is officially on or before April 30 (hoping not before). We will be moving into a construction zone so at this point it is a race against the clock to get as much done as possible to make it as easy as possible... Not quite sure how it will all work out. Best case scenario is that we get the upstairs mostly finished (flooring and paint) and we stack all the furniture like a storage unit and sleep on the floor until we get the bottom section done AND that the drywall downstairs is finished so we don't have drywall mess and dust getting tracked upstairs. If not, we will just have to use the upstairs as storage and move things out to do the flooring and then back in.
When we are settled in and everything is set up, it will be so wonderful! In the meantime, I just try and remember to take some deep breaths, remind myself that this is a season and we can do this, and stand in front of the windows and gaze out at this amazing amazing little farm that we get to call home (still can't believe it sometimes!)
