First Week
First week out at the new house! We loved it! We started (and mostly finished) the demolition upstairs and did enjoy a rare sunny day outside, manning the burn piles and cleaning up the front yard. I have been thankful for the rain because being outside is irresistible and if the weather was gorgeous, we would not be getting much done on the inside.
Let the demo begin!
Knocking out the first bedroom.
Second bedroom out and laminate flooring (and weird glued on foam stuff) torn out.
Walls being colored on.
Everyone helping.
That glued on foam was a bit tricky to remove.
Helping build the saw horse.
Demo helpers.
Trying out paint colors. I think we decided on gold, turquoise, and orange for the kitchen. I am a tad bit frightened but it is very fun and bold!
All meals were eaten at the new house.
Did I mention that all 5 children had the chicken pox this week? First several days were rough....sleepless nights, fevers, itching. Poor miserable children but we strongly believe that natural immunity is the best so they endured and by the end of the week, they were on the road to recovery.
Lots of resting and movie watching.
These sad, pathetic faces....
(Evi and Brighton had the most minor cases.)
Calamine lotion to the rescue.
Catching up on sleep after several nights of being awake.
This child had it the worst.
Burn piles on a beautiful day:
This view takes my breath away...
What is a farm without farm animals!! The "previous" owners moved out and we brought out Jacob sheep out Saturday night and our alpacas out on Sunday. We love them!
A nice day and a burn pile is perfect for hot dogs and marshmallows. My parents joined us and they have had a ton of good ideas about the house remodel and the property. They were out almost every day this week.
Stunning...do I really get to live here???
A nearly harvest moon view on the way back to Silverton.
I arrived at the farm first one day and was hauling hay out to the barn when I happened to look up and see a bald eagle perched on our tree block. What a treat to see. I have only ever seen them on the Willamette River, never inland.
