Crater Lake
(There are 3 posts about our vacation so be sure to click on older posts at the bottom of the page to see our Southern Oregon and Redwoods adventure).
Crater Lake National Park, the land of stunning blue waters that you could stare at all day. What a marvelous place for our hearts to worship at the magnificence of our Creator. It was so very good to leave behind the woes of late, the interviews and waiting, the drama, the heartaches, and just get away. We were quite disorganized and packed in a rush Saturday afternoon (and left Sunday morning) but we were thankful to just leave everything behind.
Union Campground, right on the Rogue River.
Well, the mosquitoes could have been worse!
Our First hike was up to Watchman tower, in the evening. We were quite amused when a couple with two children probably Brighton and Glorielle's age were shocked that we were going to hike the Watchman Trail, a 1.6 "moderate" hike with a slew of children.
So many trails along the road of adventure are marked with Brighton pee.
Walking down the trail at dusk, hurrying to the van, before it got too dark to see.
Discovery Point Trail...a beautiful hike along the rim with stunning views of the lake.
I love this series of pictures where Phil take the children safely to the edge to peer over.
Oh my goodness, it is a claim shanty on wheels!! Can I have one? (Only bigger LOL)
Here we are recreating a picture from 2009, when Evi was 18 months, Jubilee was 3, and Sawyer was 4. I was pregnant with Brighton and Glorielle was just waiting to join our family. We got a pretty accurate picture only Phil was supposed to hold Evi in his left hand.
We tried our best to get everyone to jump at the same time:
Me and my Love, my adventurer in life, my best friend!
We headed down the Cleetwood Cove trail to the shoreline of Crater Lake. My it was steep!
This picture is so very funny!!
Phil can now say he has swam in Crater Lake.
Lunch on the shore. There are crawdads in the lake much to the children's delight!
We worked our way along the East Rim of the Lake.
View over to what we assume is Klamath Falls.
Phantom Ship lookout:
The Pinnacles hike:
Plaikni Falls:
Castle Creek Hike (if I could fashion my backyard into any "garden" I want, I would choose this...a meadow with spring fed creeks and wildflowers.
