Hot June Days and a Wedding

Oh my goodness, what happened to late Spring?  We are sweltering with August weather and 100 degree days.  This week Sawyer had his state testing, we had our last piano lesson until the end of Summer,  Phil officially finished up school with a meeting (although he will be working during the Summer), the children did a work day at my parents to earn money for fireworks, we attended a wedding, and we tackled our annual house and purging clean.

We started cleaning in the garage, pulling out items into the driveway and going through boxes.  We are just about finished with both the storage section as well as the laundry and pantry area.  Then, we will take on the rest of the house.  It is overwhelming work with messes and staging areas strewn throughout the house, the patio, and the driveway.  It is hard to downsize and I get very sentimental about our things and what we have used and needed in various seasons of life that we no longer have room for.  I have always been fairly contented with our house size (1150 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 1 bath for our family of 7) but this week, it felt small....too small.

Work day...including Glorielle not feeling well and throwing up in the car on the way over.  The children cleaned out the chicken coop and the girls did some weeding while Sawyer used the weed eater.  I was very proud of them.  They worked hard and did a good job.  So much so, that Phil and I will match the money that they made.

We picked up some blueberries this week to stock up our freezer and on the way over to the farm, we saw these beautiful flowers in bloom.  I went back in the morning to photograph them.  I was a little disappointed with the lighting.  There was a cloud cover but I had hoped to see some streaks of light across the field but the sun never came out.

I love this little farm and someday, want to walk along the railroad tracks and photograph it properly.

We went to a wedding on Saturday.  I love weddings!  I love the joy, I love seeing the bride and groom have this special day, I love seeing family and friends gathered together, and I love remembering my own special day.  There is something so very lovely about a summer outdoors wedding.

Sis made a necklace for the bride with letters that said "Love".  She was so excited to give it to her and the bride graciously wore it with her pearls.

Wading and catching crawdads.  Unfortunately, the owners had to nix the fun because of insurance reasons.

Mother of the groom, who made all the wedding cakes.  She made ours too.

Sis really wanted to catch the bouquet.

The lady who caught it gave it to her.

And then it was time to dance.  All 3 of my girls took to the dance floor.  Evi loves dancing but her tummy hurt so she didn't do much.

And then, I bribed Sawyer with fireworks if he would get out and dance.  He danced two songs, with his sisters, on his own, and with the group.  It was so cute!  Unfortunately, all my pictures were blurry.

See the two girls behind Sawyer in the blue and turquoise?  Those are former students all grown up!

This table had chalkboard fabric so Sawyer wrote out his list of wanted fireworks.

"I am tired now."
