Silver Falls in Winter, Part 1
Last February looked like this:
We enjoyed a beautiful snow storm, the kind that comes around maybe once in a decade.
This year, we seem to be on the opposite end of the spectrum with lots of sun and record breaking temperature. This Winter has felt more like Spring. We have had 4 beautiful sunny 60 degree days in a row so we skipped out on our typical afternoon and Phil got out of work a little early to enjoy a late afternoon hike at Silver Falls.
The children are fascinated by the big ant hills.
"Mom! Take a picture."
Sawyer is breaking in the trekking poles he got for his birthday.
Silver Falls is always a bit spotty when it comes to sunshine. The tall trees and steep canyons make for a shadowy landscape but I love the way the sunlight dances off the water.
Someone was tired.
There is something quite magical about a dew stained spider web.
What is a family hike without a spill and blood?
I love lacy leaves when the color fades and you are left with a papery imprint.
