More on Fingerless Mitts
Saturday was rainy and cold. My parents had taken Brighton up to Portland for his birthday (and Sawyer went along as well). Phil took the girls up to the school to run around and play while he worked. It was a perfect opportunity to work on crochet fingerless mitt patterns.
I finished my second pair of mitts (the ones in the picture) and sewed the buttons on on our way to church. I grabbed my camera (my new camera...details at the end of this post) and we took a Sunday afternoon drive (in our new van...details at the end of this post) and stopped at a few places to photograph the mitts.
First photographs were in the rain in a big field.
The rain finally stopped and we chose this beautiful green rolling hills location.
Then, there was a brief break in the clouds and the sun came out so we quickly pulled over and took a few more shots in this lovely storm lighting. (Storm lighting might be my favorite to photograph in.)
About my new camera...I use my camera a lot. I have taken tens of thousands of picture over the years and my camera was really quite worn out. The card reader was becoming increasingly finicky and the camera flat out refused to take some perfectly normal landscape pictures earlier in the week. It has been giving me problems for awhile now but was going downhill fast. I needed to upgrade. We couldn't afford to buy the camera body that I wanted new but we were able to find a used one at the shop in Dallas that we have done business with. Unfortunately, there is something on the sensor so all of the pictures have a black squiggly line in them. I was able to crop most of the pictures down. We will need to take the camera back into to find out what is with the sensor.
About our new van...my brother and Tina sold us their van for about 1/2 the resale cost! It is 7 years newer than ours and has much more room. It was so nice for the children to have an aisle way to get to their seats instead of stepping on carseats and climbing over them to get into the back. We felt like we were driving in luxury on the way to church this morning. We are so excited and can't wait to take a roadtrip!
