Nostalgia
I am a pretty sentimental person and when my parents left Sams Valley and moved to Salem, it was a bit traumatic. I had already left for college and was not even there for the packing and moving but having my childhood home sold and closing that chapter of my life was more sad than it was exciting. Whenever I drive back through, I am always filled with a sense of sad nostalgia and missing what was once "home".
Tresa offered to give me one of her prized braided rugs! I immediately jumped on the chance to stop by on the way home and pick up this treasure for my home! I remember many many times watching Tresa make these braided rugs as a child. She would find old wool garments and make them into strips which she would then braid and sew together.
Turning down the road that led home...traveled thousands of times.
Gilman Dairy
Familiar Farm Fields
A little peak at the place that was my second home. This is where I spent so much time as a child with Michelle. I have to say, this place is one of the most darling places I have ever seen. Dale and Tresa have done so much work on this little cabin over the years and the landscape has changed so much but still in the spirit of simple and neat and tidy and old fashion and rustic (all of these said with the upmost admiration). I have to say, I am longing to do a photoshoot here both of the grounds and of the house. I seriously may have to make a special trip just to do this! The evening lighting was disappearing quickly but I did manage to snap a few quick photos.
The driveway from the yard(how many times did I pull in here with my bike?)
Outbuilding cabin
Do I think Tresa innocently walked in front of the camera while I was taking pictures? No, I do not! LOL!
More outbuildings...chicken houses, and storage sheds....could they be more perfect?
The old barn and the sunlit hillsdie (how many hikes did Tresa take Michelle and I on up through the rocky outcroppings?)
Typical Tresa style!
I agree!
The guest house (Michelle and I once used this as a playhouse.)
For some strange reason, I didn't take any pictures of the house!
