Easter Oregon Trip, Rock Hunting, Part 2
Tuesday was our rock hunting day.
Site number 1 was along the highway. There was a lot of white agate and jasper between Prineville and our camp that was exposed during the road construction and surprisingly, there was still quite a bit left to find. It was fun because everyone was able to find something. Jubilee was excited to find the bones of the poor unfortunately creatures that met their doom crossing the highway. She came home with a bag of old bones. LOL!

Site number 2 was at a place called Eagle Rock. It was a long steep hike up to the cliff with buckets and our rock hounding tools but it was fun to pick around the base of the cliffs and find agate seams in the rock. The view was beautiful.
Up late and up early and rock hounding made most of the Kellys quite sleepy.
Site number 3 was the Maury Mountains. We didn't find anything here. The surface area was picked over and my parents had taken the shovels and gone back to camp. It was a beautiful drive however!
We easily could have gone to another site if we had more time. The children were having a blast, the weather was perfect, the scenery was amazing but alas we had to head back for a late dinner (graciously, my parents had headed back to camp earlier and had dinner waiting for us). We could have spent another day or two rock hunting. There were so many places that we still wanted to go to.
