Birthday Weekend

My first born daughter, turns 7 today!  I always love my children's birthdays so I can think about the day we met.  Think about how much they have grown and changed since that day.  How our lives are shaped around each one of them and how we as parents and individual people and as a family, will never be the same as the day they entered our lives...and each day since!  They change everything...hand crafted, wonderfully and fearfully made, unique and special enough to be one of a kind...never before and never again!

My daughter is my homemaker...she loves to be a part of the homemaking process and she loves children.  I really think she has received a special gift from the Lord in this area.  She loves babies and she is great with them...attentive, patient, confident.  As much of a natural as I have ever seen!  I have been hugely blessed by her with her involvement with Glorielle.  She is my child who seems at ease with school and studious.  She is timid and reserved especially when she first gets to know people and often needs time to warm up in social situations (like me!) and yet she enjoys people.  She is compassionate and very connected to her siblings (especially Sawyer) and at the same time we are sculpting her dramatic flare and uncanny knack to be in the midst of any squabble.

Her first day.

For her birthday, Jubilee wanted to have a picnic up at Silver Falls Park.  We invited Grammy and Grampy and our favorite friends, the Pint family to join us on Saturday for a birthday celebration.

Skipping stones, mud, sticks and cups...what fun!

It was so green and beautiful.  Lucky for us, both Tim and Sawyer were wearing practically the same outfit.  Bright red shirts make it easy to spot active boys!

Wading was inevitable I suppose although I wasn't too thrilled about wet and dirty clothes.

Barbecue, chips, watermelon, right near the playground...perfection!

Sunday was a low key day.  Sawyer woke up with the stomach flu so I stayed home with the oldest and youngest and Phil went to church with the rest.  We caught up on chores and enjoyed being home.

Monday, is the actual birthday day.  We had cheerios for breakfast (the children always ask for cold cereal on their birthday) and gifts in the morning.  Sis wanted "girlie" presents.  So we got her perfume (a lovely, mild citrus smell), lotion, (barely) tinted lip balm, and a purse to keep it in.  I made her hair clips and some little notebooks as well.  Phil took the older 4 to see Epic in 3-D at the local theater.  Pesto pasta for dinner and a birthday weekend will be summed up!
