A March Weekend
I love weekends where I fall into bed on Sunday night tired and feeling productive about the weekend's accomplishments.
We are pinching pennies and hoping that line drying (inside until the weather improves with this temporary fix until Phil can make folding clothing racks) will help save on our energy costs.
The children were thrilled and everyone helped hang up clothes. Here Sawyer is trying to assist in the laundry drying. I am not sure blow drying the clothes is economical. LOL!
Saint Patrick's Day. The leprechauns dyed the toilet water green and put food coloring in the waffle batter (hmmm, didn't turn out as green as I had hoped). We had green smoothies for breakfast and wore green to church. The children were quite funny at the discovery of the toilet water. We told Sawyer that it was the leprechauns for Saint Patrick's Day and he told the girls it was the Decepticons ( from Transformers) on Saint Perfect's day. Then they were surmising that perhaps it was the 'little guys' who dyed Easter Eggs and left one in the toilet. Evi came in and asked us if it was Crapper day (after about three repeats, we figured out she was saying Clapper. I have no idea why.)
I have picked fresh daffodils at my parent's place once a week for the past three weeks. I think this might be the last of them.
Sneak peak at crochet soakers! We decided to save money by going back to cloth diapers only we would have to make due with what we have and what I can make instead of buying new pocket diapers. We got rid of our Fuzzi Bunz diapers after 3 children's continual use because they would not longer come clean. We just went with disposables after that. Well, at 25 cents a diaper (2-3 dollars a day), we decided to go back to cloth. I had some old diapers that I didn't much care for at the time but we are making them work. We have covers for Glorielle's size but only one for Brighton's size. I need to make inserts and covers. I found a crochet soaker pattern on line and set to work experimenting with size and pattern alterations. It took a looooong time and quite a bit of ripping out stitches but I am happy with the end product. I had some wool yarn that I had ordered and there were a few colors that I didn't care for...perfect for experimenting with. I also have some yarn I bought in anticipation of a blanket that I will be making into soakers instead. Incidentally, the switch over went surprisingly smooth.
