Post Christmas
I was lamenting that vacation time is really more like catch up time. Before children, Phil and I would relax; sleep in, have movie marathons and snuggle on the couch, go to coffee, go to the movies, do something spontaneous, be lazy, etc.. on our vacation days. With small children, our lifestyle is very different. We are always "on duty" and days where Phil is home to help out are days that we get things done that we don't normally have time to do. I felt a bit sorry for myself because I really wanted to go see the movie The Hobbit and go out to coffee with Phil and have a lazy day of nothing but talking together with no responsibilities but we just don't have those kind of opportunities any more. Now, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change my life for anything but every once in awhile, it would be nice to take a day off from life! I know those days of small child responsibilities are fleeting and (Lord willing) when are children are grown and our home is empty, I will look back on these days as wonderful gift and with longing.

These are not tears of joy. Potty training B will not be easy. (I guess that goes along with everything else though LOL! We love love love this child but man oh man, he is our most challenging.)

Relief and a happy hug when the dreaded underpants were off!
House clean and some room arrangements! Tina came over to bring some spontaneous gifts for my oldest two daughters (after already a very generous Christmas to the Kellys!) and we were pondering a room arrange so she stepped in and spearheaded the new look. It took me all day but I finally got all the little clutter piles taken care of and surface areas cleaned off so we could enjoy the newness.
The long table has become the new dining table. It is a hideous table and needs to be covered at all time (think chipped green Formica). It will work for now but someday, I want a table that works for the awkward space in our house as well as seats enough for a large family.

Like the way it all turned out!! The changes you made after my departure are much more homey! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of painting the kitchen that blue, would really pop w/ the yellow in the other rooms. Fun!!
