Goodwilling

I love Goodwill shopping....It is a fast and efficient way to look for buried treasures.  I can go for a few hours alone between baby feedings while Phil spends time with the children and usually find something for the home or clothing and have quiet time in the process.  I go more frequently during the winter months when I am spending lots of time in small spaces with small people!  When the sunshine and warmth return, we are usually outside enjoying our urban farm and crafting and treasure hunting (well, except for the occasional garage sale) are put on hold.

Prices have become a bit ridiculous so the treasure hunt is more about finding something of decent quality or interesting to me (and maybe not others LOL) that isn't a name brand.

I went treasure hunting over the weekend and am on a house decorating kick at the moment and I found quite a few fun things and spent....gasp...almost 100 dollars.  I was a little horrified at the register.  How did things add up so fast?

I did manage to find several clothing items for the children (11 in all, ranging from 3-4 dollars) and a wet suit for Phil that he can wear for short, warm weather dives or swimming (the big ticket item).  I found 6 glasses to match the three survivors (1.00 a piece).  I found a Bible story book to read to the children for devotions (3.00).

These fern plates were a dollar a piece and the tablecloth was 4.00.

This lovely little cup or vase is made in England and I would guess "vintage".  It was 2.00.

I am throwing in these lovely roses that my wonderful husband brought me.

This valance (I think that is what it is called) blocks some of the natural light during the daytime but it gives the kitchen a cozy face lift in the evenings. (5.00)

A treasure indeed for Sawyer!  We have 4 smaller airplanes...one that I found many years ago at the Goodwill and 3 from a garage sale.  They are all the old "authentic" metal versions.  This one is twice as big as the others.  It is rough condition and was a little more that I wanted to spend (7.00) but I knew he would love it and has been asking me to find more old planes to hang up in his loft.
