Making Butter

We have been reading Little House on the Prairie. (I have probably read that series 50 times, no joke!)  There is a chapter that describes making butter.  We borrowed my mom's butter churn but the wooden paddles were a bit moldy so we went on to plan B.  I divided up a pint of cream into 3 jars and the children shook them for about 10-15 minutes and they turned into delicious, creamy, whipped butter.  We then ate an entire loaf of bread and most of the butter!  It was so fun, that Phil bought a few more pints and made some over the weekend as well. We had waffles and butter for dinner!

  1. I love it Emily! Reminds me of a blog post I did from when the girls and I used to make our butter from the extra creme we'd get every week: http://wibelfamily.blogspot.com/2009/04/making-butter-with-kids.html

    Hope to see you soon.
