A Busy Saturday
Wow, Saturday was a full one! It started out with Phil leaving early for a day of helping out at my parents and finishing the final touches of a house painting project he started last summer. Then his wife (that's me) had some sort of bizarre emotional hormonal meltdown about spending our one family day apart (church is an all day affair and the weekends have changed drastically since we made a commitment to a long commute and a fellowship meal...I need to blog on this!). We changed plans. Phil came home, I packed up for a day out (diaper bag, lunch, dinner, school stuff) and we went to the pet parade as a family, then to my parents as a family, and then to the house painting job site as a family. We may not get a whole lot done on the never-ending list of things to do but we do try and prioritize our busy schedules around spending time with one another and enjoying being together as a family.

Pet Parade
This highlight of the parade...getting candy. The children did a nice job of sharing with one another and with the other children in the area.
On our way out of town, we saw a life flight helicopter at the Silverton hospital. The crew was standing around so we wondered if perhaps they had landed as part of the big Silverton 'to do'. They were in fact waiting to transport a patient but did have time to talk with us a little. It turned into a good lesson for the children on compassion as we had an opportunity to learn about life flight, watch (from the car to give the patient privacy) as the helicopter loaded up and took off, and to pray for the person in need and their family.
Luckily, we were able to get through most of school before B woke up. He wanted to participate...by taking pencils, paper, wrestling the students, and crawling all over the blanket. Not so helpful!
Sunday was church until mid afternoon and then we headed out to my parents to have dinner with a long time family friend (Anna) and her son who were stopping by on their way back from Seattle. We got home at bedtime and here it is...Monday morning already. A disastrous house awaits me, a long list of things to do for the week including a birthday celebration for my first born daughter who will be 5, a visit from Grandma Tracy sometime toward the latter part of the week, the bamboo being dug out today, a trip to Lowe's for retaining wall blocks on sale, blood work....the list goes on and on! First order of business is breakfast. One thing at a time!
