Homeschooling

We bought our homeschooling curriculum!  Well, year 1 anyway.  It is called Tapestry of Grace and it incorporates many different subjects and teaches them through a history timeline.  It is a little advanced for our children but having it will allow me to get to know the program, find supplementary material to add, and ways to "make it our own".  I have had my eye on this particular program for about a year but didn't figure on purchasing it until the children were older.  After spending several days pouring over it, Phil was so excited, he downloaded the first year (there are 4 total).

We are hoping to start our school year (officially Kindergarten) during the summer.  School for us will consist of FUN!  We will dapple in our new curriculum (can you say...mummify a chicken and make salt maps!), work on the basics, read together as a family, and mostly establish a routine of actually "doing school" so we can transition our family into a homeschooling lifestyle.

Our other homeschooling purchase....drumroll.....is my very own computer!!  I use the computer quite a bit for research, staying in touch with friends, networking with other moms, and homeschooling.  The computer that I have been using is actually a work computer of Phil's.  We needed to upgrade to something fast and with a lot of memory.  I wanted a laptop so I could have the convenience of using it wherever am I am.   Phil had been planning on a getting me one for awhile and the prices were cheaper than he thought.  Now I just have to go through my files and organize them (a daunting task, as I have about a million saved documents).

Today's agenda (Sunday):  get outside, work in the garden, and fortress in our little plot of land as we start the next evolution of deer battles!   Hoooooyaaaaaah!

  1. How fun to settle on a curriculum! I love getting new stuff! I never thought I would love homeschooling as much as I do. It is seriously FUN (and growth provoking)! I'm alreading getting stoked about next year and we're barely over half way done with this one.
