The Weekend is Here

Weekends are becoming more meaningful now. With Phil's more "regulated" schedule, weekends are becoming our family time and get stuff done time.

I have a new nephew! Edwin was born on Wednesday, at 6:15 a.m. He weighed in at 8lb 4oz and was 21.5 inches long. What a cutie!! I of course forgot my camera when we went to visit (arrrrgggg). Tina had a waterbirth at a beautiful birthing center out in the countryside. I tried to talk them into letting me have him but they didn't seem too interested! Guess I will have to wait until Christmas time to take a newborn home with me.

My goodness the end of this week has been crazy! Wednesday, we met our nephew and then Phil had a football meeting. The children were crazy and wild but as soon as I gave structured time we had a peaceful and quiet evening while we waited for Daddy to come home (how I love structure!). That adorable man brought me flowers, jelly beans (ok, those were as much for him as they were for me), and a sweet sweet card. I am missing him like crazy already and we aren't even into the regular Football season. I adore that man so much!! The other day he came home from the job site where he did a final once over and gave the bill. His zipper was open the whole time and he had a big lettuce leaf chunk in his tooth. I was so in love with him at that moment and counting my blessings for such a cute and funny man! (Is this gettting weird?! LOL!!!)

Thursday, we went to the outlet malls to get Phil some new school clothes. Neither one of us are too crazy about spending a bunch of money on wardrobe updates but it is necessary! The two older children went to my parents (lucky for them, they would have been bored stiff!) and we took Evi and spent over 6 hours going through the shops and trying on clothes. I was disgusted at the quality of clothing and the prices. Most of the stores seemed disorganized as well. I popped into the Motherhood store (my clothing situation is getting pretty desperate) and it looked like they had gone to garage sales and the Goodwill bin stores to dig up clothing and then slap a 50 dollar price tag on it. By the end of the excursion, I had blisters from my cheap, second hand shoes and vowed never to wear the pants I was wearing again because of the wedgie factor. We stopped by Old Navy on the way to pick up the children and their selection was terrible and expensive as well.

Friday, Phil got home from Summer School late and packed us up and we headed to the regular Mall where he insisted I get a few items and a new pair of shoes. I found a comfy pair of jeans, some linen pants, a sweater, and a few t-shirts. Everything but the jeans were on sale and I was horrified at the price. We then found a pair of birkenstocks (OY, how did I ever settle for blister shoes). They look like Chinese clogs with bright paisly designs only for BIG feet. They threw Phil a little but he will get used to them LOL! They were outrageously expensive.

My favorite store is the Goodwill. Before I met Phil, I went every week! I loved bargain shopping and wild clothes. Busy moms don't have time for frequent Goodwill trips and you need to go often to find good stuff. Busy mom's clothing becomes practical instead of fun and wild. I go maybe once every couple of months and spend about 3-4 hours going through everything.

Today, we have the chicken pen to finish (yes, they still aren't in the temp yard yet) and maybe some garage saling. I would love to head in to the Goodwill for a little quiet time before the Fall. I need to go Target and return some items as well. I also need to finish my nephew's quilt before Sunday evening. Monday starts our regular schedule more or less, I still haven't put together my school plan. Now that I am writing all this out, I am starting to stress about all the things I need and want to do!!!

Better get to it!
