It is too too too HOT!

The temperature is in the hundreds. We don't do hundreds very often here so when the temperature spikes above 90, we swelter!

Hot weather farming...This hot weather does not make for happy plants or animals. I went out several times yesterday and hosed the plants in my garden to cool them down and make sure they didn't lose too much moisture out of their leaves. I did notice a few things got sunburned. Those poor rabbits were miserable. We had a fan angled down at them, running full blast and gallons of frozen water in their pen but they were still just stretched out panting most of the day. I froze plastic cups with water for the fish bowl to at least try and keep the surface temperature down a bit. Not sure it helped. As for us, the two olders have an air conditioner in their room so they are comfortable. The rest just make do with fans. Going to be even hotter today, ugh.

Housecleaning update: Yesterday I spent most of the day doing general houseclean and then tackled the bedroom. Do you have one of those rooms that just gets cluttered? Where paperwork, odds and ends, stuff you don't know what to do with collects and multiplies. Well, we have three rooms like that!! Our room which was the former office has a lot of office junk that we are trying to sort through. I tell you, I just don't know what to do with some of the stuff!!! It is going much slower than I would hope!

Life on the urban farm...One of our chickies, the little seabright didn't make it. I noticed that it wasn't doing well night before last and it progressed downhill. The poor little think hung in there most of the day but finally died late last night. We knew it wasn't going to make it so Phil picked out another bantam while he was running errands yesterday. They were out of seabrights so he picked out a second buff brahma. Farm animals/pets dying is my least favorite part of farming. Second, is the smell of poop.
