This and That
I have been enjoying gardening!! I had to tone it down a bit. I overdid it several days in a row and found myself utterly exhausted one day. The front bed is completely done including the sweet peas (tied up and mulched). The veggie garden is completely terraced and all the dirt moved. Phil has been working hard on this. A few new herbs are planted. The deer fencing is nearly complete and plants are starting to grow back!! The side bed is weeded and ready for mulch. I am thrilled with the way that my garden has turned out. I am constantly tweaking things and the urban farm goal is to have edibles in every garden bed. The front bed is pretty good - a grape trellis, 2 gooseberries, a currant, and I plan to plant a column apple. The others are still taking shape. Love love love love love my garden!!
The house is an entirely different story. I know that I have been parenting (juggling) for 4 1/2 years now but I can't seem to figure out how to keep up on the house work and be outside working in the garden at the same time. When I was feeling so poorly, things really went downhill. All good patterns and habits were thrown out the window. Phil was THRILLED that I made a menu plan for the month and grocery shopped so we are back on track for eating yummy foods and balanced meals. He loves my cooking and the meals around here have been awful!! Yesterday, I forced myself to unload and load the dishwasher after breakfast, make beds, and have the children clean up their clothes and the playroom before we went outside. Now, to figure out when to do school! Yesterday, we played outside for 2 hours and then it was time for lunch and clean up and naps. (I am still in the MUST NAP stage). Sawyer and I went outside when I woke up and Sissy joined us a little later and we had another hour and a half before I had to make dinner. Then we went to football with Phil and the children ran for 2 hours straight. We didn't even clean up after dinner and there is tons of laundry waiting to be folded on the couch. Sigh, I need another me.
Childrenisms...Yesterday, Sawyer asked me if we could lite the lawn on fire and watch for explosions. Evi was eating worms out of the mulch. I don't know how many she got in before I realized that is what she was doing. Sissy called Daddy into the bathroom one morning while she was going potty and asked him why she didn't have a Tappers. It took him awhile to figure out that she meant a penis. She invented the name herself probably after hearing the numerous times we told Sawyer to tap when he is finished. So he had to have a quick conversation about the difference between boys and girls.
Phil has been working working working! He took 4 days off last weekend and it was the first time since early Spring that we felt like we had a bit of a break! Phil started his construction project as soon as school ended and he is in his second week of football camps that last until 8:30 or so. He got approval for 4 days of computer prep (he is working on a network system that links all the schools in the district together. He presented it to the administration and they were really excited about it and approved time for him to work on it). He can do this work at home and log his hours. Summer school starts in August. We are really blessed this summer to have all this extra work coming in. It isn't the most fun for all of us but it will keep us afloat next year with the added costs of baby number 4. Phil is an awesome provider and a really hard worker.
For Father's Day, we lounged around (Phil loves this and never gets to do it!!) and then went and watched the movie Up at the local theatre. We decided the children are still in the rental stage. Evi couldn't stop squealing. The other two kept getting folded up in their chairs and couldn't stop wiggling and Sis couldn't see. Phil ended up watching from the aisle way with Evi and I had both of the older ones on my lap. I remember thinking, it is a good thing my belly isn't any bigger! I tend to get clausterphobic when I have no lap and people are trying to get in it.

Is this not the sweetest picture. Note Carlos (the stuffed frog) by Phil's head, the open book he never quite finished, and the many others waiting to be read. This was early in the morning. I was up having a little quiet time and Jubilee, our earliest riser, was thrilled to hear that Daddy was still in bed. Usually, he is gone before the children wake up.
