Ushering in Spring Break
Michelle and her lovely children (Michelle is lovely, too, by the way), were here on Sunday and Monday. It was great to have them visit and good to know our home could withstand 9 children! The bathroom was kept busy. Phil and I figured the only thing we "need" is a formal dining area (and we have plans for that someday) and a second 1/2 bath.
Sawyer put a willow bloom up his nose, making it our first object-stuck-in-the-nose experience. Phil was able to get it out with tweezers.
Tuesday, we went up to OMSI with the Johnson crew and part of the Scarbrough crew. Phil took the day off and went with us. The children had a wonderful time playing. When we were sitting together having our lunches, Sawyer exclaimed, "We are like a big family (meaning the Duggars.)" We were there over 5 hours, a new OMSI record for us! We will have to go up more often, the Discovery play area with the water section and the sandbox was a big hit.
We had two chiropractor appointments during the week. We changed chiropractors to someone who takes our insurance and is 5 minutes away. It is much more convenient and if it is nice, we can take the children to play on the playground at the school across the street where I used to teach.
On Thursday, the children spent the day at my parents with their cousin Zellee. While they were there, I went to Jenn's and she showed me some tips on playing the guitar and singing. I guess I didn't mention, that I am learning to play the guitar. I am blessed to have giften musicians (Jenn and Aaron) as friends! Who hopefully don't mind my questions.
Our friends, the Irwin's, came for dinner. We are trying to fellowship more and it has been very fun getting to know Todd and Beth and their wonderful girls!
Saturday night, Phil and I had to laugh at the state of our children. Jubilee had gone most of the week without a nap and Sawyer was obviously tired as well. It was bed time and they both couldn't stop crying over the silliest of things. Sawyer was in tears because there was a bandaid on his stuffed giraffe (I had put it on weeks before when Sis told me that Mr. G had an owie). Jubilee was in tears that Mr. G. didn't have the bandaid on anymore. We remedied it by taking the bandaid off the giraffe and putting a new one on the stuffed cat.
We officially have a 15 month old. We are eagerly awaiting her first steps and first word. She seems to be a bit of a late bloomer in that department!
And with all that....we usher in Spring Break. What a needed time for our family. It has been a difficult few months. There has been a lot going on and we have had some challenges along the way. We are hoping that the week gives us quality time together, rest, and refreshment.
