An Update Finally

Ok, where do I begin!!

The weekend was wonderful. I enjoyed the Above Rubies retreat immensely. It was a joy to attend with Michelle and Ericka. It was a great opportunity to meet Nancy Campbell and be blessed by her ministry. If you knew nothing else about Nancy, her convictions, her knowledge and wisdom, her passions, and her life experiences would be enough to convince you explore why she believes what she does. I am impressed when an author or speaker presents material that is Biblically grounded and doesn't have any SERVE SELF undertones! This always gives me confidence to really listen, absorb, and mull over the message. This is one of the things I love about her ministry! She really challenged me and I look forward to reading more of her books and hopefully have an opportunity to review my pages of notes!

I was so blessed during this extended football season to have my MIL Tracy down from Idaho for the week. She leaves tomorrow morning. :( I really don't know how I do it without help!!! She has folded a ton of laundry, helped with the dishes, and entertained the children all week. Sometimes I struggle with being lonely as a stay at home mom so it was really great to have another adult, a friend, here to talk to. The children have had a great time with Grandma, as well!

Ok, and now for the unfortunate event that occurred outside today. I made myself a cup of tea and we decided to take advantage of the sunshine since we have been cooped up this week with lots of wind and rain. The children were riding their bike/car up and down the sidewalk. Sawyer crashed into the mailboxes (his first real crash). You may think this was the unfortunate event but his helmet saved his head from a big bang and his pants prevented a scraped knee. I put my tea on the fence and ran to his side in a near panic because I thought his face hit the sharp jagged corner of the mailbox. It turns out he went just under it and smacked his helmet on the pole. When he had recovered from his scare, I went back to the fence and took what I though would be a nice sip of tea and instead sipped up a yellow jacked who proceeded to sting my tongue and leave the stinger behind. I spit tea and yellow jacked out in a panic and finally, after several attempts, plucked the stinger out of my tongue. I have been stung many many times over the years and let me tell you, this was the MOST PAINFUL STING EVER!! It hurt so bad I couldn't stand still and was dancing all over the place and finally sprinted into the house to get ice cubes. When that didn't do anything to alleviate the pain, I remembered baking soda. I made a big batch of paste and kept applying it and after a long while the pain became bearable. My tongue turned very stiff and swelled up so I couldn't talk, eat, or swallow very well. I lost all feeling and taste in the front of my tongue. It was so awful!! The swelling and most of the numbness are gone but I still have a hard lump and a numb section where the stinger was inserted. I hope never to have a repeat of this horrible experience!!

The following pictures are of Sawyer and Jubilee trying out Grandma's bed.
