Our Week
My, has it really been a week since I last posted?
Let's see..the two older children spent the night at Grammy and Grampy's on Friday. Phil was at a football game so I had a long, quiet, lonely evening at home. We slept in until 9:00 a.m. Yes, you read that right. Evi went back to sleep and with the other two gone, the opportunity to sleep late was presented and we took full advantage!!
Saturday, we ran errands - Phil in one direction and me in the other. We usually like to do errands together so we can have as much time together as possible. Phil put up part of a privacy fence - the garbage cans, potting plants, wood pile, lawn mower, etc. need privacy from being viewed from the street! He also worked on the stairs for our deck.
Sunday, was a bit rainy so we were lazy. I worked on preschool plans, and puttered around. The children and Phil napped and watched a movie.
Monday, there was a pleasant surprise. The high school lost power so students were sent home early and football practice was canceled. Phil got to come home right after school. It was so nice to have an entire evening together as a family even if we did have to spend it at the chiropractor.
Tuesday, was an especially fun day. I met a new friend. Her name is Meg and she lives in New York. We are both part of a private online parenting forum. She posted that she was in Oregon with her family so we arranged to meet at a park. Our children are nearly the same age and her daughter (a month older than Sissy) is also named Jubilee.
Wednesday, we had our friends Heidi (mom), Haley and Landon (children) come over for the evening. We are both "football widows" so we have arranged a get together every Wednesday for dinner and play time for the kids (alternating homes). This has been great in many ways. I have a chance to visit with an adult and the children have an opportunity to play as a guest and as a host. This has been very eye opening and a good chance to do some "social training". And I must admit also that I am inspired to give the house a good cleaning so as not to be embarrassed by clutter and piled up laundry!!
When Phil got home late Wednesday evening he built a fire and we sat around the living room all toasty and read books to the children. It was a perfect close to the day!
Thursday (today), has been a very long day. When Phil has away games, we don't attend the game and when he gets home past bedtime the day just seems to drag on forever. I think I officially tucker out somewhere around 4:00 p.m. and it can be challenging to muster up patience and strength to finish up the rest of the day. It is funny but the minute his car pulls in the driveway, I am refreshed and renewed (or asleep)!
Tomorrow is Friday and the older children will be going to my parents for the day, like they do once a week. They LOVE to visit at Grammy and Grampy's. They run and play all day long. Evi and I are going up to a quilt convention in Portland. I am forcing myself to go and venture outside my comfort zone. I really don't like to drive in the city and I don't have anyone to go with so this a nerve racking thing for me.
That is the nitty gritty of the week!!

Sounds like a fun week, Emily! Enjoy your time at the quilt convention with your little one. And do tell all about it! Sounds marvelous!
