The end of Spring Break

Spring Break is essentially over. I am so sad! It has been really nice having Phil home. We have done a lot this past week. Phil worked for a friend from church doing a labor exchange. He is building a shop and Paul is making a wardrobe system for our room. My MIL, Tracy, came for a visit last Sunday (and didn’t stay nearly long enough). We always love having her down and wish she lived closer! Phil built a retaining wall and prepped our backyard for a patio. We had planned to pour the concrete but the weather didn't cooperate. We had snow, hail, sun, and wind. I planted a few new plants (starts from my mom) and got 3 quilt blocks sewed. The older two had a MMR vaccination and Evie had a basic check up where she weighed in at over 15 pounds (99th percentile) and 24 inches long (87th percentile). I had my final therapy massage. I went to a mom's night out group with a few ladies from church (Phil and the kids had dinner at my parents so he was within close proximity to bring Evie for her dinner.) Phil and I cashed in on his wonderful birthday present from my parents – dinner for two at a fancy restaurant, babysitting included! What a rare treat for the two of us to sit down together uninterrupted by children or all the things that need to be done around the house.

Next week is back to business as usual. I used a little of my "jar money" (money not part of our household budget - like gift money, kept in a jar) to buy a new book, "Eat Fat, Lose Fat". I am planning on trying the two week health recovery program to get us back on track from all the ailments we suffered this winter, for the eczema (Phil and Jubilee), and to power up for allergy season (Phil). We will be eating a lot of coconut oil and other coconut products, lacto fermented beverages and foods, and increasing some of the "superfoods" (like cod liver oil). I have some research to do and quite a bit of prep before I am ready to get started but I am hoping that this will have healing benefits for our family.
