Tuesday

I am eating leftover curry rice (compliments of M) and lentils with steamed broccoli on top. I have to say (sorry M), I just can’t get into curry. I have tried lots of different curry recipes and I have never found one that was so delicious that I wanted it as part of our “regulars”. I am trying a Moroccan chicken recipe for dinner tonight that does have curry as one of the many spices. We will see how it goes….

I have enjoyed listening to my baby fall asleep while eating my lunch (at 2:30!!!) and checking my email and some favorite blog sites. I rarely get an opportunity to sit down and I hear dishes, laundry, and dinner prep calling. Anyway, Evie has a wind up bug mobile over her bed that she likes to talk to when she goes down for a nap. She coos and coos at it until her eyes get heavy and she goes to sleep.

I must say, every baby makes me fall even more in love with all of my children!! Evangeline is such an amazing baby. She is a good nurser (despite my milk supply issues), tolerant of constant interruptions, willing to hang out in her swing while Mommy takes care of pressing things, doesn’t fuss a lot, and is a fairly good sleeper. I am so crazy about her that I can’t imagine 10 weeks ago when she was a wiggly tummy.

Sawyer is such a big boy!!! He is so independent. One of his favorite phrases is “my do”. He wants to do everything himself! He dresses himself, puts on his own shoes, is completely responsible for using the potty (except for hand washing – we need a faucet that is easier to turn on). He plays fairly well independently with (laugh laugh) some OCD qualities like piling the same colors (legos, matchbox cars, etc.), lining things up, making simple patterns, etc. He is so ready to start preschool activities. Mom is still struggling to fit that into the schedule!!!!

Jubilee is getting to be quite the big girl herself (although she insists that she is a big boy). Her favorite words are no and my/mine and her favorite past time seems to be whining! I distinctly remember Sawyer going through this stage. She has quickly figured out when mom is not consistent (in the car, while nursing, on the phone, in a store) and takes merciless advantage of this. She also knows exactly how to get under Sawyer’s skin. She is requiring some extra patience these days but is so cute that all is forgotten when I wrap her up in a big hug! I often wonder who she would be if she wasn’t second in line to a big brother. She likes playing with cars, legos, tools, and other typical “boy things” even though we have been very purposeful and encouraging of any kind of interest that either one of them may have and not “pushing” gender toys. However, she is wonderfully maternal with Evie. She says, “Baby milk” when Evie cries and “baby nap” during every nap time. She is always checking in and concerned about our baby. She “helps” me when Evie is nursing by bringing Evie’s blankets and then giving her lots of kisses. One adorable thing that she is doing is singing Baa Baa Black Sheep and Bob the Builder (just those lines).
