Car Accident

I was in a car accident today. I was on my way to my quilting class and as I was turning into the parking lot, I was rear ended. The bumper was damaged and the impact was severe enough to jar the radio unit right out of the console. The back end was more lifted up than it was crunched. The other car will probably be totaled. The passenger of the vehicle that hit me was taken by ambulance to the hospital. My neck was pretty stiff and I had a bit of a headache. The EMT was pretty insistent that I go to the ER and have X-Rays taken. He wanted me to go in the ambulance. I opted to have Tina drive our van back to Silverton and go to the ER there so Phil could bring baby up to nurse. (A dear friend stayed with the kids while he came up.) No severe injuries thankfully but I will probably be pretty sore tomorrow.

The accident that I was in caused another accident behind me as the next car in line slammed on their brakes and then was rear ended. There was a police officer on scene who was giving a ticket to another car and she witnessed the entire thing. There were also witnesses galore as the previous quilt class was just getting out. It was quite a zoo with police officers, ambulances, and fire trucks. The assistant to my chiropractor also takes the quilt class so I touched base with her briefly and will be heading in this week.

I was soooooo thankful that my children were not in the car with me. Praise the Lord!!! Nobody was seriously injured and our van is still drivable. I do feel so sorry for the driver. He was a young kid who had just gotten his license and was on his way to work.. He was cited for careless driving and also for violating his license by having a passenger in the car with him. Poor Tina ended up driving me home and Mary (her mom) who drove all the way down from Castle Rock, Washington for the quilt class had to escort us to the hospital instead! Phil has been on the phone nonstop with the insurance company and auto body shop getting everything arranged. He also called the young man to tell him that everything is ok.

Phil and I had to roll our eyes…we have been through “plagues” with fevers, stomach flu, colds, and influenza and now an accident…What’s next? Natural disasters??!!
